Meet Erin Smith

A student in the Florida State University College of Music with a background in voice and a deep passion for child development, nurturing care, and early learning.

Erin's vision is to create a daycare that goes beyond supervision — a safe, warm, development-focused environment where children are cared for with excellence while being introduced to music, rhythm, language, and faith-based values.

Our Philosophy

We believe every child deserves more than basic supervision. At Little Lights, your child receives warmth, intentionality, enrichment, and personal attention every single day.

  • Trustworthy, relationship-driven care
  • Small-group setting for individual attention
  • Education, creativity, and strong values combined
  • Meaningful music woven into daily life

Who We Welcome

Working parents, dual-income households, university families, young professionals, and anyone seeking a smaller, more personal childcare setting with faith, creativity, and enrichment.

We serve children in the toddler to preschool age range, where quality care and developmental input make a lasting difference.

Located in Tallahassee

Three Pillars of
Exceptional Care

Our program is built around three core pillars, designed to provide both reliable childcare and intentional development for your child.

01

Nurturing Childcare

A safe, warm, and structured daily environment with supervised play, learning activities, social development, rest, and personalized attention in a small group of up to six children.

  • Supervised play and learning
  • Social development activities
  • Story time and rest periods
  • Personalized attention for every child
02

Music and Voice Learning

Age-appropriate musical development woven into the weekly routine, led by Erin's formal music training to support language, confidence, and joyful learning.

  • Singing and vocal play
  • Rhythm and movement
  • Call-and-response activities
  • Sound exploration
03

Faith-Based Values

An environment reflecting Christian values in an age-appropriate and welcoming way, reinforcing character, compassion, and trust throughout each day.

  • Kindness and gratitude
  • Gentleness and respect
  • Encouragement
  • Peaceful, values-driven culture

Why Music Matters
in Early Childhood

Voice is the most natural and accessible musical instrument for young learners. Our music curriculum supports your child's growth in meaningful ways.

Language Development

Music naturally supports vocabulary, speech patterns, and communication skills in young learners.

Confidence

Singing and performing builds self-assurance and a willingness to express oneself freely.

Listening Skills

Musical activities develop active listening, attention span, and auditory processing.

Memory

Songs and melodies strengthen memory recall and cognitive pattern recognition.

Creativity

Musical exploration sparks imagination and creative thinking from an early age.

Coordination

Rhythm and movement activities develop motor skills and physical coordination.
